Semi-Concrete Dates

We have figured out some dates that would be our ideal times for holding the Fire Service Day, Mock Oral Interview Day, and Guest Speaker events on campus.
  • Fire Service Day: 5/12/09 (May 12, 2009)
  • Mock Oral Interview Day: 5/8/09 (May 8, 2009)
  • Guest Speaker: 5/5/09 (May 5, 2009)

Discussion Board

Our website has a new feature, the Discussion Board. The board is where all club members can post their thoughts, ideas, and suggestions about the club in general. This tool is perfect for those who cannot attend club meetings to get their say. Click on the "Discussion Board" link on the right-side of the website to view the board.

What is great about the discussion board is that you do not have to sign up to post replies! Simply input your name before submitting the post. You may input your name as "Anonymous" if you do not want your name revealed.

This is another great way for the club to communicate and connect, so use it regularly!

Department Chair Vacancy

Lieutenant Houpt, former Chair for the Assistance Department, has moved to being the Chair for the Academics Department. Therefore, the Assistance Department, currently has no Department Chair.

This is another great way to practice leadership and networking while still being an active club member; another thing to place on a resume.

Club T-Shirts: General Information

If you had not known, our Club T-Shirts are now available for ordering. They are $10.00 each, are made with 100% cotton, and come in the following sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large.

Here are some frequently asked questions about our Club T-Shirts:

Q: Why are they $10.00? Last semester they were $8.00.
A: Last semester, SACFTC was a new club. The Executive Board did not know that they would sell so quickly. Also, the Fire Technology Office advised in upgrading price for a better club fundraiser.

Q: Does the shirt come in any other colors?
A: The club unanimously voted upon keeping the color scheme the same. There is a low chance that the design will change.

Q: I ordered my shirt. When will I get it?
A: The club has to order shirts in bulk in order to obtain a reasonable price. The entire order is placed after we receive a desired number of orders. Processing takes about two weeks.

Q: When is the deadline for ordering?
A: Tuesday, March 31, 2009 (before the Fire Technology Office closes)

New Committee

A new Committee has been established! The Olympic Volunteer Committee researches and presents volunteering opportunities available from the Special Olympics. This is a great chance to work with the community, gain some leadership experience, obtain volunteering time, and be an active club member.

Correction On Committees

Due to the misinterpretations of the Executive Board, we made in error in the names of our Committees. The Cell Phone Committee is, actually, incorporated with the Drive Committee. The Burn Center Committee is the real Committee that would have taken its place. The corrections have been made. We apologize for any misunderstandings or inconveniences this may have caused.

Club T-Shirts

Club T-Shirts are now available for ordering! Here are a couple of notes about our Club T-Shirts:
  • Cost: $10.00
  • Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
  • Design: Unchanged; view the "Photo Gallery" to see pictures of the design.

We have not determined a deadline for ordering shirts, but definitely before Spring Break. Also, once we order, the processors take about two weeks for development. Please visit the Fire Technology Office (Room A-113) if you would like to order a Club T-Shirt!

Four New Committees

During our most recent meeting, the club has created four Committees to preside over our upcoming events/activities:
  • Fire Service Day Committee
  • Mock Interview Committee
  • Drive Committee
  • Cell Phone Committee

Each Committee is responsible for the research and development of their respective event/activity. For more information, click on the links, which are under "Committees" along the right-side of the website.

If you would like to participate in these Committees, please contact the Executive Board through email. REMEMBER: You do not have to attend meetings to be an active club member!

Our Departments

During the Fall 2008 semester, we considered the "Six Committees" as such. However, that proved ineffective due to the lower number of club participation we received last semester. Now, we are refering them as "Departments". In addition, we no longer have a Personal Development section, for it has been incorporated into the Assistance Department.

Department Chairs are in charge of their respective Department. They research and develop any and all information, in relation to their Department, to help benefit the entire club. Becoming a Department Chair does require a bit of work, but the rewards of experience and networking are well worth the position.

The following Departments currently have a vacancy for Department Chairs:

  • Fundraising Department

New Semester

Hello everyone! We hope that you all had a great Winter Recess. But now it's time to get serious again. With the Spring 2009 semester around the corner, the Executive Board has been getting ready with plans and activities already in mind.

Just some quick notes:
  • Club meetings will remain on Tuesdays from 3:00PM to 3:30PM in Room W-101.
  • There is no application for joining the club.
  • There is no fee for joining the club.

Simply show up at the meetings, continue being active, and we're sure to top what we achieved last semester.
